The 3008 enters a market which the Nissan Qashqai previously enjoyed to itself. But with growing demand for spacious MPVs with a quasi-off-road look, more models are entering the market.
1. Looks
The 3008 follows the company's well-trodden design ethos; a gaping grille, snouty nose, pronounced wheelarch flares and curvy rear lights. Few would call the 3008 pretty, but then neither is the Qashqai.
6/10
2. Looks inside
The cabin is the best in a Peugeot in ages, in terms of design and quality. The solid, well laid out switchgear and huge centre console are excellent, but the console does reduce interior space.
8/10
3. Practicality
Space and practicality are good; the 512-litre boot is bigger than most rivals' and the split-opening tailgate makes loading simple. A three-level adjustable boot floor is ingenious while head, leg and shoulder room are first rate.
10/10
4. Ride and Handling
Comfortable and easy to drive, the Peugeot 3008 makes for an exceptionally able if unexciting companion. Long distances are swallowed easily with a cosseting ride and good refinement. Light steering makes parking easy too.
8/10
5. Performance
The 1.6-litre 110 HDi engine is a strong performer, enabling the 3008 to cover 0-62mph in 12.2 seconds and achieve a 112mph maximum.
