The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been given a new face and a host of changes under its skin. We tested the big five-seat SUV to see if it can take on more expensive and more prestigious competition.
1. Looks
A new front end, grille and headlamp design have updated Jeep's curvy off-roader. We like its modern looks, which are imposing without appearing cumbersome.
9/10
2. Looks inside
Jeep has updated and improved the interior with soft-touch materials and a multi-adjustable steering wheel as standard.
8/10
3. Practicality
The tailgate is split so the boot can be accessed without opening the whole door – but the floor is high off the ground. The Overland comes with Quadra-Drive II 4WD for improved off-road ability.
8/10
4. Ride and Handling
The Grand Cherokee offers a comfortable ride but the size and off-road ability take its toll with the handling. There isn't too much lean in corners though and grip is good – but it doesn't involve the driver.
7/10
5. Performance
The diesel is quick for such a big SUV, accelerating from 0-60mph in 8.8 seconds before reaching its 122mph top speed.
8/10
