The Jaguar XKR-S will be the fastest and most powerful series production car ever made by the company when it goes on sale in September.

The 5-litre supercharged V8 engine in the XKR-S produces a mammoth 542bhp and an equally impressive 501lb/ft of pulling power.

Such enormous figures means the XKR-S is capable of 186mph along with 0-60mph in just 4.2 seconds - and 0-100mph in all of 8.7 seconds.

It's not just about outright performance though, as the chassis of the Jaguar XKR-S has been honed for greater agility to make it a serious driving machine.

The suspension has been overhauled for better cornering ability, although Jaguar is claiming this isn't at the expense of ride comfort.

To help improve handling, there are revised alloy wheels, while the steering has also been tweaked for more sharpness and better feel.

To ensure the XKR-S stands apart from its lesser siblings, there are unique paint colours plus an aerodynamics package to aid high-speed stability.

The interior has also received a makeover, with bucket seats that feature 16-way adjustment, heating and memory functions.

As you'd expect, such performance doesn't come cheap - the Jaguar XKR-S is set to start at £97,000, making it one sof the costliest cars it has ever offered.
