Vauxhall will launch a new large MPV, the Zafira Tourer, this autumn. Based on the concept car shown at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, the Zafira Tourer is a rival for the Ford S-Max and Peugeot 5008, and will sell alongside the existing Zafira.
Inside, the Zafira Tourer features an updated version of Vauxhall's Flex7 seating system. The company promises the latest Flex7 will offer "greater levels of flexibility, innovation and comfort."
The third row of seats can fold flush with the floor, as in today's Zafira. The new car's second row will consist of three separate seats which slide and fold individually, rather than the current car's bench. With the second row moved fully forward, Vauxhall claims third-row passengers have 210mm more legroom than in the regular Zafira.
Luggage space is also said to be more generous than in the smaller car, with 710 litres in five-seat mode, an improvement of 65 litres.
The Zafira Tourer's engine line-up will include a 1.4-litre petrol turbo, a 1.8-litre petrol and a choice of three 2-litre diesels.
Vauxhall expects to open order books in late September with the first customer deliveries in early 2012. Prices are likely to start from around £22,000.
