Vauxhall has announced it will offer a lifetime warranty on all new cars registered after August 1, 2010. The warranty covers the cost of replacement parts for the lifetime of the car, or until it reaches 100,000 miles from the day of first registration.
Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty is a comprehensive warranty which covers the engine, gearbox, axles, steering and braking systems and electrical equipment.
Owners will need to visit a Vauxhall dealer annually for a free inspection, but as long as the car is serviced in accordance with Vauxhall's guidelines, using approved parts, there's no requirement to have it serviced by a Vauxhall dealer.
Models covered by the new deal include the Agila, Corsa, Astra, Meriva, Insignia, Zafira, Antara and VXR8.
The offer is currently only available to new car buyers. When the car is sold, used buyers will be able to buy a second owner warranty, although no information on this extension scheme has been released.
The offer comes in the wake of other car makers announcing longer warranty deals. Toyota now offers a five-year warranty on its models, up to 100,000 miles and providing the car is serviced on schedule at a Toyota centre for the full five years.
Chevrolet's Five Year Promise includes a five-year warranty, free servicing, breakdown cover, MOT test cover and vehicle health checks for new car buyers. Hyundai offers five-year cover with unlimited mileage, Kia a seven years and 100,000 miles.
