The third incarnation of the popular Toyota Yaris supermini will arrive in the UK this summer.
It continues the "compact outside, spacious inside" approach first pioneered by the original MINI. Clever packaging of the car's components should allow for impressive leg and headroom and a large boot.
Three engines will be available; the 1-litre and 1.33-litre petrol engines familiar to drivers of the Toyota IQ, and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine.
It will also see the introduction of Toyota Touch and Go, a system offering "affordable multimedia connectivity" with a 6.1-inch touch-screen display. Expected features will allow it to control the stereo, your portable music device and to offer sat-nav. If it does, it will be similar to the Nissan Connect system offered in its rival the Nissan Micra.
President of Toyota Motor Europe, Didier Leroy, said: "New Yaris represents Toyota's strongest offering yet in the important supermini segment. With its new levels of ingenuity, efficiency and quality, we are confident it can build upon Yaris's previous success and help Toyota rejuvenate its presence in Europe."
