Peugeot and Citroen have just announced new models which are free to tax for the first year thanks to their low CO2 emissions.
The Citroen C5 1.6HDi 110hp and Peugeot 207 1.6HDi 112hp both emit less than 131g/km CO2 (130g/km and 119g/km respectively) which is the threshold for the Government's new 'showroom tax'.
The Citroen C5's revised 1.6HDI engine is available across the range and offers not only lower emissions but also better fuel economy than before at 56.3mpg (up from 53.3mpg). Prices are unaffected.
Meanwhile the Peugeot 207 1.6HDi 112hp gains an all-new engine and six-speed gearbox which is promised to not only be greener but also more responsive than the 1.6HDI 110hp it replaces.
The new engine and gearbox are available on hatchback and SW estate models in Sport trim and on the SW estate in Outdoor, faux-off-road, trim. Prices start at £15,645 for the 3dr Sport, rising to £17,585 for the SW Outdoor.
