Supercar tuners tweak Toyota iQ

Small is the new big – if this little monster is anything to go by. The tuner behind the 500bhp racing Lexus LF-A has decided to tweak Toyota's smallest car to produce this: the iQ GAZOO Racing MN.

GAZOO – fresh from building the LF-A for the Nurburgring 24hr endurance race – decided the iQ needed freshening up. So they junked the standard CVT auto-box for a six-speed manual gearbox, lowered the ride-height by 30mm thanks to sports suspension, fitted 16-inch aluminium wheels, whacked on rear disc brakes and fitted 'reinforcement braces' – which we assume are strut-braces to stop body-roll.

Elsewhere, the LF-A-liveried GAZOO iQ gets Recaro sports seats, aluminium pedals, a rear-roof extension, front and rear spoilers, side mudguards and even front fog lights. And to make sure you stand out from the crowd, the little iQ comes with sports decals and a centrally-mounted exhaust.

GAZOO has left the 1-litre engine alone, which means backing up that visual oomph is 67bhp and a 0-62mph time of around 15 seconds. But despite the piddly power output, this thing looks the nuts. It's only on sale in Japan for the grand total of 1,970,000 Yen, which is around £12,700.
