The Skoda Superb is now available with an economical 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine. Despite being smaller, the 1.6 engine offers the same 105bhp and 12.5 second 0-62mph acceleration as the 1.9-litre TDI motor it replaces.
Most importantly, it's more efficient, increasing combined fuel consumption from 49.6 to 56.5mpg in the Skoda Superb hatchback and 48.7 to 54.3mpg in the estate.
Carbon dioxide emissions also drop significantly, from 149g/km in the hatch to 130g/km and 153g/km in the estate to 133g/km, placing both models in a lower road tax band.
The 1.6-litre TDI Superb is available in S and SE trim levels and comes fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Prices for the latest Skoda start from £17,480 for the S trim hatchback, with the 1.6-litre TDI SE Estate costing £20,780.
