There's a clean new 1.6-litre diesel engine for the Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic MPVs.

The Energy dCi 130 engine replaces the old 1.9 dCi 130, but improves fuel economy by a quarter to 64.2mpg on the combined cycle. Carbon dioxide emissions drop by 30g/km to just 115g/km, which puts the Scenic into the 13 per cent band for company car tax.

Renault's new 1.6 matches the power output of the old 1.9, but has 15lb/ft more pulling power (236lb/ft). That's enough to give the Scenic a 0-62mph time of 10.3 seconds and a top speed of 121mph.

The Energy dCi 130 is available to order now on the Scenic and Grand Scenic Dynamique TomTom, priced at £20,900 and £22,200. First customer deliveries are expected in July.
