Renault is celebrating its iconic superminis's 20th birthday by offering 1,000 Clio 1.2-litre Extremes for just £7,450 between May 21 and 23 - the same price as a Clio RL 1.2 during the 1990s. This represents a £3,590 saving on the car's current £11,040 list price.
The 75bhp 1.2-litre Extreme model is capable of returning 47.9mpg and emitting 139g/km of CO2, and comes fitted with 15-inch 'Aria' wheel trims, electric front windows, ABS, front fog lamps and CD sound system with MP3 connectivity.
Until the end of June, Renault dealers throughout the UK will also be giving customers the chance to win a Clio 20th Special Edition.
Priced from £14,950, the Clio 20th Special Edition gets unique badging, newly-styled front bumpers, 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity, climate control, cruise control and an integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation system.
Other prizes include 20 romantic weekends at a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel in Paris and the first 1,000 customers to test drive a New Clio will get a copy of the Mr & Mrs Smith French Hotel Collection guide, worth £20.
More than 10 million Clios have been sold worldwide since it went on sale in 1990, with one million sold in the UK alone. It's still the only car to have been voted European Car of the Year twice; in 1991 and 2006.
