Land Rover has announced a five-door Range Rover Evoque, which will go on sale next summer with prices starting from £30,000.
The Evoque competes against the BMW X1 and Audi Q5. Like the three-door coupe version, which was officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show back in September, the five-door remains remarkably faithful to the 2008 Land Rover LRX concept on which they're both based.
The five-door Evoque adds a useful dose of extra space and versatility to the luxurious cabin. Rear seat passengers have over 50mm more shoulder room, with the higher roof improving headroom in the front by 30mm and by 40mm in the rear.
All Evoques will get MagneRide adjustable shock absorbers controlled through an advanced version of the Terrain Response system, this should ensure a sporty drive and that the baby Range Rover has the off-road capability to match the badge. A two-wheel drive version of the Evoque will also be available.
The Evoque five-door will be offered with 187bhp or 148bhp versions of the 2.2-litre turbo diesel and a new 237bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine with direct fuel injection, turbocharging and twin variable valve timing.
Specific equipment for the Evoque hasn't been announced yet, but features include automated Park Assist, a blind spot monitoring system, surround camera system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hard drive navigation system and keyless entry with a powered tailgate.
