The latest special edition Porsche 911 has been revealed - the Black Edition, based on the Carrera Coupe or Cabriolet.

On sale from April, just 1,911 examples of the car will be sold globally, each featuring black paintwork as standard, with a metallic black finish available at extra cost.

The theme continues on cabriolet models with a black roof, while the same colour is used to finish the brake callipers as well as the leather interior trim. On the inside, there are silver highlights for the dashboard, gear lever and air vents.

All Black Editions are fitted with a 345bhp 3.6-litre flat-six as standard, which gives a top speed of 180mph along with 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds (5.1 for the Cabriolet).

These figures come courtesy of the standard six-speed manual gearbox, but it's also available with Porsche's PDK twin-clutch transmission which cuts 0.2 seconds off the 0-62mph time for both models.

For those after the fastest possible acceleration, the 911 Black Edition can also be specified with the Sport Chrono Plus package, which shaves another 0.2 seconds off the 0-62mph sprint.

Standard equipment includes sat-nav, multi-media interface, park assist, cruise control, automatic wipers and auto-dimming mirrors inside and out.

Porsche isn't charging a premium for Black Edition models, which means the Coupe costs £67,270 and the Cabriolet is £74,958. Included in these prices is a driving experience at Silverstone.
