The Porsche Panamera is now more fuel-efficient thanks to a number of detailed changes under its skin. New optional equipment has also been added for this model year.
The mechancial improvements have been made to the V8 petrol-powered versions of Porsche's five-door hatchback, including the S, 4S and Turbo models. The smaller-engined 3.6 V6 remains unchanged.
The main source of improvement is the new brake energy recuperation system that captures energy usually lost when slowing, to charge the battery. When accelerating the alternator is switched off, reducing the load on the engine.
New, low-resistance tyres are also available with 19-inch wheels. The combination of these two changes increases the S, 4S and Turbo fuel economy to 27.4mpg, 26.7mpg and 25mpg respectively. CO2 emissions are reduced by 21g/km to 285g/km for the Turbo, while both S and 4S now emit 11 g/km less.
Meanwhile Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) which applied the brakes to the inside rear wheel during hard cornering to aid handling is now available. While an extended range of colour options and three-dimensional satellite navigation display have also been added.
Prices aren't affected by the changes, starting at £61,461 for the V6 up to £97,818 for the Turbo.
