Hot on the heels of the Porsche 911 Black Edition announced last week, comes the more affordable Boxster S Black Edition.
Limited to 987 examples worldwide, the Boxster S Black Edition features the usual 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine in the middle, but with an extra 10bhp, so there's now 320bhp.
With an extra 10lb/ft of pulling power too - so there's now 273lb/ft - the Boxster S Black Edition is capable of 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds.
For those who want even more performance there's a PDK double-clutch transmission option, which cuts the 0-62mph time by 0.1 seconds while the optional Sports Chrono Package Plus option with launch control cuts it further - to just 4.9 seconds.
Such performance doesn't come at the expense of fuel economy though, as the Boxster S Black Edition can average 30mpg (with the PDK gearbox), with CO2 emissions pegged at 221g/km.
Predictably, black dominates the interior and exterior design. The roll bar, roof, twin exhaust pipes and exterior detailing are all finished in black. Details inside include instrumentation, a leather-clad steering wheel and part-leather trim all in black too.
Standard equipment includes cruise control, multi-media system with sat-nav, xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights. Options include ceramic brakes, Porsche Active Suspension Management and adaptive sports seats.
Available from March, the Boxster S Black Edition will be priced from £47,426. Included in that cost will be the opportunity to explore the car's limits with a Silverstone driving experience.
