Porsche has added to its famous 911 sportscar range, with a pair of Carrera GTS badged versions.

Available both as a coupe and convertible, the Carrera GTS uses a 3.8-litre flat six engine developing 408bhp, some 23 more than the existing Carrera S. Top speed increases to an impressive 190mph.

The GTS will be sold with either a six-speed manual gearbox, or a Porsche designed seven-speed twin clutch system.

The tail has been widened and its styling enhanced to accentuate the model's rear engine location.

This makes the Carrera GTS as broad as four-wheel drive 911s, but the GTS is rear-drive only to give it more traditional Porsche handling.

British sales begin in December, with prices likely to be from £76,758.
