The Peugeot 3008 range is expanding with the addition of an automatic gearbox and a new, more powerful diesel engine.

The new 163bhp 2-litre HDI diesel engine also produces 251 lb/ft of torque. The unit is only available with the new six-speed automatic gearbox, the combination providing acceleration from 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds and combined fuel consumption of 42.8mpg. CO2 emissions are 173g/km, placing the 3008 HDI 163 FAP Auto in VED tax band H.

The model is also fitted with Peugeot's Dynamic Roll control, which keeps body movement in check over the rear axle.

The new diesel/automatic combination is available in two trim levels - Sport and Exclusive. The former offers 17-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, cruise control, CD player, air conditioning and six airbags.

Exclusive specification adds a panoramic roof, automatic headlights and wipers, head-up display, tyre pressure warning and dual zone climate control.

Sport models cost £21,395 on the road, while the Exclusive will set you back £22,795.
