The Nissan GT-R has negotiated a lot of tough tasks: the Nürburgring, the Top Gear race track, Jeremy Clarkson. Even Kerry Katona has driven one. And now it's going rallying, sort of.

American tuning house Stillen has modified a Nissan GT-R for the Targa Rally in Newfoundland, north east Canada - a 1,400 mile trek over a variety of road surfaces which play home to potholes, gravel, sand and water.

Stillen has taken a standard GT-R which it describes as 'very capable' in its video. But 'capable' isn't enough for this company. So the Nissan has been made lighter, now boasts carbon ceramic disc brakes and has had power increased from 480bhp to 620bhp.

US magazine Road and Track recently tested the Stillen GT-R and it accelerated from 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-130mph in 11.4 seconds and with a top speed in excess of 190mph.

The car's interior has been stripped to make way for a roll cage and special racing seats with Monit Rally computers fitted for accurate timing during the rally.

The Targa Newfoundland Rally is now in its seventh year and takes place between September 12 and September 19.

Other renowned sports cars taking part in the event include a Porsche 911 GT3, GT3 RS, E30 BMW M3 and an Audi Quattro. But we're impressed with the entries coming from the likes of Canadian Dyrk Bolger (great name) who is driving a 1962 Mini Cooper and American Jack Healy who is driving a BMW 2002.
