Volvo has announced full details and pictures of the new V60 estate ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
The new design incorporates a pronounced wedge nose, a 'double wave' side profile and a high beltline for a sleeker look. Buyers also have the opportunity to add front and rear skid plates, a front decor trim, side scuff plates, special exhaust tailpipes and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Power will be provided by three petrol and two diesel engines from launch. Petrol options range from a powerful 304bhp 3-litre unit, which is capable of hitting 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds while returning 27.7mpg to a new 1.6-litre GTDi engine which is available in two power outputs, 150 and 180bhp.
Diesel options include two five-cylinder turbodiesels: a 205bhp 2.4-litre unit and a 163bhp 2-litre engine. An ultra-efficient 113bhp 1.6-litre DRIVe version will join the line-up later.
Inside, the V60 features 40/20/40-split rear seat, a fold-flat front passenger seat and has a load capacity of 430 litres with the rear seats in place.
Safety features include City Safety technology as standard while the new Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake - which can detect if a pedestrian steps out into the road in front of the car and activate the brakes - is available as an option.
The V60 will go on sale at the end of the summer for first deliveries in autumn 2010. Prices are yet to be announced but expect to pay more than the S60, which starts from £23,295.
