An all-new Vauxhall VXR8 will hit showrooms in March 2011, priced at £49,500. The new VXR8 will be available as a four-door saloon only, and is set to rival the Jaguar XFR, Mercedes E 63 AMG, BMW M5 and Audi RS6.

It's powered by a 6.2-litre V8 pumping out 425bhp and 405lb/ft of torque. This means it can sprint from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.

The VXR8 is based on the Holden E3 GTS, which offers a more sophisticated suspension system than the previous ClubSport R8-based model. Magnetic Ride Control allows the suspension to adapt quickly to road conditions and driver input, while Launch Control helps the car put its power down for optimum acceleration from a standing start.

Styling changes include LED rear lights along with LED daytime running lights at the front, a large grille and a distinctive rear spoiler.

All cars come with leather trim as standard, along with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. A multi-media interface enables the driver to view information about G-forces, lap times and other track-focused data.

The VXR8 will be sold through six Vauxhall dealerships around the UK, with 34 dealers accredited to carry out servicing and other maintenance work.
