The all-new Seat Alhambra has been revealed, ahead of UK sales late this summer. The Alhambra's styling is now more in line with the rest of the Seat range, with its new arrow-shaped bonnet and family face.
Seat's version of the new Volkswagen Sharan also adopts sliding rear side doors and greater legroom, making it easier to get in and out.
Power is provided by two petrol and two diesel units, all turbocharged and equipped with direct fuel injection.
Petrol engines are a 148bhp 1.4-litre and 197bhp 2-litre units, while the diesel options are a 138bhp or 168bhp 2-litre engine - the former providing an average fuel consumption of 51.5mpg and CO2 emissions of just 143g/km.
Stop/Start and brake energy regeneration technology - which redirects some of the energy lost during braking to help power the car's battery - are fitted as standard, to further enhance fuel-efficiency.
The Alhambra adopts a more versatile seating plan, with the second and third-row seats capable of folding flush into the floor - rather than having to be toppled or lifted out completely - when extra load space is needed.
The new model is also around 22cm longer and 9cm wider than its predecessor, which Seat claims makes it more adult-friendly, particularly as the three individual central seats slide on runners to allow legroom to be customised.
The Alhambra is available in two trim levels, Reference and Style. The base model includes seven airbags, ABS, ESP and a tyre pressure monitoring display as standard.
Optional extras include a DSG dual-clutch transmission, bi-xenon headlamps, park/steer assistant - which autonomously manoeuvres the car into parking spaces - a rear view camera, panoramic sliding roof and electric sliding doors and rear.
