This all-new Porsche Cayenne SUV will make its world debut at next week's Geneva motor show.

Porsche will be hoping that this new Cayenne proves just as popular as its predecessor. On first impressions it looks to be on to a winner.

Its styling is more in line with the rest of the Porsche range with a leaner, sleeker look despite its increased size. Its interior also looks to be a vast improvement on the previous model's, which was perhaps its weakest link.

The exterior's lean looks are backed up by extensive weight saving across the range. When combined with various other efficiency gains, the new Cayman uses up to 23 per cent less fuel, despite being faster.

The big SUV's CO2 emissions have also been reduced, the new Cayenne S Hybrid emitting a relatively saintly 195g/km. Figures for the range-topping 500bhp, 4.8-litre, twin-turbo, V8 Cayenne Turbo haven't been announced however.

The range kicks off with the £41,404 Cayenne, which is fitted with a 3.6-litre petrol V6, followed by the Cayenne Diesel, which manages 38.2mpg combined.

The new Hybrid mixes a supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine with a 34kW (45bhp) electric motor. It can be driven on the electric motor alone at speeds up to 40mph and also features a new 'sailing mode' which can switch off the engine at speeds up to 97mph, when cruising.

The 4.8-litre V8 Cayenne S sits just below the Hybrid and, like all models, is fitted with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and stop-start technology.

UK sales begin on May 29, with all new customers offered driver training at Porsche's Experience Centre at Silverstone.
