These are the first pictures and details of the new Peugeot 508. The Peugeot 508 is designed to replace both the Mondeo-rivalling 407 and the larger 607, and will be available as a saloon and an SW estate.
Peugeot claims the 508 takes its design cues from the SR1 drop-top hybrid concept car, with its low, wide grille and dominating headlights that run deep into the wings. The 508 saloon is 4.7 metres long, to the estate version's 4.81 - this makes it exactly the same length as the Ford Mondeo.
Information is limited but Peugeot has revealed the new 508 will be as efficient as possible, with all engines fitted with the manufacturer's new e-HDi stop and start system as standard, for 15 per cent improved economy.
A Hybrid4 tech version will join the range shortly after launch, which will return a combined 200bhp, with four-wheel drive and tailpipe CO2 emissions of 99g/km or zero in electric only mode.
The new Peugeot 508 will make its public debut in October at the Paris Motor Show, before going on sale at the beginning of 2011.
