The new-look, more efficient Mazda2 is now on sale, priced from £9,995. The revised Mazda2 - available in three- and five-door guise - now comes with a range of efficient engines, all of which meet Euro 5 emissions standards and have improved fuel consumption.
There are three petrol and one diesel option to choose from. Petrol buyers can choose from an efficient 1.3-litre engine - tuned to produce either 74bhp or 83bhp - or a range-topping 1.5-litre unit, producing 101bhp. The latter is available with a four-speed automatic gearbox for a premium.
The entry-level 74bhp 1.3-litre petrol engine emits 5 per cent less g/km of CO2 than the outgoing model, at 119g/km and averages 55.4mpg.
The 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine has been improved to produce 94bhp, and return an average fuel consumption of 67.3 mpg while emitting 110g/km of CO2 - this makes it free to tax for the first year and £20 per year after that.
Styling changes are subtle but include new front fog lights, re-designed alloy wheels and a Sport version, as well as a new front bumper, which incorporates the new Mazda "family face" which debuted earlier this year on the Mazda5 and 6. On the inside, there's a new instrument cluster and improved, more durable materials.
There are four trim levels: TS, TS2, Tamura and Sport. All come with air conditioning, twin front airbags and MP3 compatibility. Prices range from £9,995 for the 1.3 3dr TS Air Con and go up to £14,455 for the 1.6 5dr Sport Diesel.
