The latest seven-seat Kia Sorento off-roader will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

Kia has increased its length, while making it lower than before. Coupled with a significantly different design, it gives the Sorento a sleek new appearance.

As well as updating its looks, this move has also improved the aerodynamic efficiency of the Sorento, helping to boost fuel economy.

Big changes to the construction of the body (it now has a monocoque bodyshell) have also reduced its weight by 215kg.

Kia expects the most popular engine in the UK to be its 2.2-litre diesel with 194bhp and 310lb/ft of pulling power and says its ride and handling balance has been tuned more to on-road driving this time round.

Customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Other available features will include keyless entry, engine start button, in-mirror reversing camera and a panoramic glass sunroof.

With the outgoing Kia Sorento starting at £20,695, expect prices for the new model to be comfortably under £25k.

Also present at Frankfurt will be the face-lifted Kia Cee'd, which goes on sale in the UK on October 1.

As well as receiving mid-life design tweaks, the range is joined by an 'Intelligent Stop and Go' Cee'd which emits 110g/km CO2.
