Skoda has unveiled new efficient 'Greenline' versions of its recently face-lifted Fabia and Roomster models. Both models come with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-diesel engine - which replaces the outgoing 1.4-litre unit - to further improve fuel-efficiency and lower emissions.
They also get start and stop technology, brake energy recuperation - which captures some of the energy lost through braking to recharge the battery - and a gear recommendation system, which helps the driver choose the most economical gear.
The chassis has also been lowered to improve aerodynamics, while low rolling resistance tyres complete the package.
These improvements mean the Greenline Fabia estate now returns 83.1mpg and emits just 89g/km of CO2, while the Roomster delivers 67.3mpg and 109g/km.
The Greenline Fabia and Roomster models are expected to go on sale in the UK later this summer, with prices to follow.
