Prices have been announced for the new Ford Focus, which goes on sale in March 2011. The cheapest cars will cost £15,995, with standard equipment on all models including DAB digital radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity along with voice control for some major functions.

Safety will be a key selling point too, with all new Focuses getting front, side and curtain air bags, electronic stability programme (ESP), anti-lock brakes and Isofix child seat mountings.

Entry-level cars will carry Edge badges, with Zetec models adding 16-inch alloy wheels, a heated windscreen, sports seats and leather steering wheel.

Next is the Titanium, with part-leather trim, keyless start, dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring and hill start assist.

The range-topping Titanium X also gets 17-inch alloys, heated front seats, park assist, xenon headlights, electrically adjustable driver's seat and LED daytime running lights.

The 1.6 petrol Edge will cost £15,995 while the 1.6 diesel will be £1,000 more. The cheapest Titanium will be the 1.6-litre petrol at £18,745, while the Titanium X range kicks off with the £21,245 1.6-litre petrol. The most expensive new Focus will be the 2.0TDCi Titanium X, at £25,095.

The engine line-up will include 104bhp, 123bhp and 148bhp 1.6-litre petrol units, plus 1.6 and 2-litre diesels giving 94-161bhp. The bigger diesel is also available with Ford's dual-clutch gearbox, while the smaller diesels get stop-start as standard.

At first there will be only five-door hatchback offered but an estate is follow later in 2011 - Ford has already said there will be no three-door hatch.
