Honda has revealed the hottest hybrid yet at the Goodwood Moving Motor Show in the form of the Mugen CR-Z coupe.
One of the stars of the Auto Trader-sponsored event, ahead of the Festival of Speed, the Honda CR-Z features a supercharged version of the standard car's 1.5-litre petrol engine and develops a heady 200bhp.
And with the extra power provided by the electric hybrid system, performance is sparkling.
Honda says pace is on par with the Honda Civic Type-R, so expect a 0-62mph of around 6.5 seconds and a 145mph top speed.
The standard CR-Z is a superb drivers' car, and engineers at Honda's tuning arm, Mugen have shaved more than 50kg from the chassis which should make for an even better experience.
A tarmac-hugging bodykit and a huge rear wing won't appeal to everyone, but as a concept that's been developed to gauge reaction, it has certainly grabbed the attention of the show's visitors.
The interior has been given a makeover to give the full concept car experience.
Honda has remained tight-lipped on a limited-production run, but the last Mugen was a performance version of the Civic Type-R of which 20 were built.
