Renault has announced an exclusive version of its Clio Renaultsport hot hatch with a raft of external revisions and a more sumptuous interior.

Just 50 examples of the Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Raider will be available for British buyers to order from the end of October and will rival the Mini Cooper S hatchback and Vauxhall Corsa VXR.

The Clio 200 Raider is the first Renault to be available in matt 'Renault i.d.' paintwork, in either Stealth Grey (pictured) or Diavolo Red, but both colours feature a gloss black roof. Other styling equipment includes a rear spoiler, F1-style front spoiler, rear diffuser and door mirrors.

The gloss black finish is also applied to the 18-inch 'Interlagos' alloys - one inch larger than the standard wheels - and are fitted with Bridgestone RE 050A tyres, as used on the Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy.

The Raider is offered with the more driver-focused Cup chassis as standard with a lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers, quicker steering ratio and a red finish to the Brembo brake callipers.

Leather-trimmed Recaro seats are fitted as standard along with a zinc grey finish to the centre console and dash trim and a white rev counter. Bluetooth, USB connectivity, automatic climate control and Renaultsport mats are also fitted.

A numbered plate identifies the number in the 50 production run. Customers can order their Raider with a choice of Renaultsport Monitor, Renaultsport's on-board telemetry system, or Carminat TomTom Live satellite navigation at no additional cost.

Renault will announce pricing at the end of October, but expect Raiders to cost around £1,200-1,500 more than the standard 200 Cup.
