BMW has unveiled a limited-edition Z4 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its historic Mille Miglia endurance race victory. The German marque has announced it will build just 99 examples of the BMW Z4 sDrive 35is Mille Miglia.

Setting this car apart from the standard Z4, each Mille Miglia edition will be finished in matte silver Polaris Metallic with a blacked-out front grille, an M division aero kit, 19-inch dark chrome alloy wheels and special Mille Miglia badging.

On the inside, the Alcantara seats and steering wheel are finished with bespoke red stitching.

Power is provided by the standard sDrive 35is's 335bhp turbocharged 3-litre engine, which is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This means it is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph.

In 1940 the BMW 328 Kamm Coupe took first, third, fifth and sixth places at the Mille Miglia endurance race in Brescia, Italy. The original car has also been restored by BMW in time for this year's event.
