The Nissan Cube has been axed in the UK, just a year after it went on sale.
Having sold just 1,100 models nationally, Nissan has decided it's no longer profitable to bring its quirky city car to Europe.
The Cube's distinctive looks and relatively high prices haven't gone in its favour, neither has the fact it's only available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine. But when we road tested the Cube last year, we thought it was good to drive, well-equipped, safe and comfortable, if not as practical as its boxy shape would have you believe.
The official starting price for the Cube is £14,000, while the most costly version - the 1.6 Kaizen CVT - runs to £16,300.
But there are now plenty of deals around with pre-registered top-of-the-range models available from just £12,000 - saving more than 25 per cent. Stick with a manual gearbox and you've got your pick of pre-registered Cubes with minimal mileage for less than £9,000.
