The car we've known as the Land Rover Range Rover LRX will be officially named the Range Rover Evoque when it goes on sale in 2011.

The Evoque was revealed at a star-studded event in London last night, and you can watch the video on the main Auto Trader website.

Land Rover's most important new model for more than a decade, will be the most efficient Land Rover model to date.

Power is likely to come from a 2-litre diesel hybrid powertrain, which will emit around 120g/km of CO2.

Despite being as efficient as a supermini, it will still have the characteristic rugged looks of other Land Rovers in the model line-up.

Power will go to just the front wheels in the most economical version, but four-wheel drive will still be available, for only a small economy and emissions penalty.

The public can get their first glimpse of the car at the Paris Motor Show from September 30.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will be built at the Halewood plant in Liverpool, creating around 1,000 new jobs, and will go on sale in 160 countries.
