Kia Picanto best for used car value

The Kia Picanto loses less money than any other car after a year of ownership, according to a new survey. The baby city car from Kia lost £1,247 - £3.42 a day - after a year and 10,000 miles.
Thanks to a low purchase price, those selling a 12-month old Picanto can expect to recoup 80 per cent of the original price. Values have been kept high due to Kia's reputation for reliability and excellent five-year warranty.
Small, cheap-to-run city cars accounted for 36 of the top 50 cars in the study by used car price magazine, Parker's. Twelve of the top 50 were off-roaders due to recent snow and wet weather conditions.

• Daihatsu Terios - £1,818 lost during 2010, 14% of original price
• Fiat 500 - £1,943 lost during 2010, 22% of original price
• Volkswagen Polo - £1,987 lost during 2010, 22% of original price
• Mazda 2 - £2,022 lost during 2010, 23% of original price
• Volvo XC60 - £2,056 lost during 2010, 8% of original price
• Perodua Myvi - £2,133 lost during 2010, 31% of original price
• Audi Q5 - £2,189 lost during 2010, 9% of original price
• Skoda Yeti - £2,213 lost during 2010, 13% of original price

• Maybach 57 - £132,098 lost during 2010, 44% of original price
