Hyundai i20 now more efficient

The Hyundai i20 supermini has been given a mechanical overhaul in order to improve efficiency. All models receive improved aerodynamics thanks to a hidden spoiler that controls airflow around the wheels. A gear shift light, low friction engine oil and an alternator which only recharges the battery under braking to reduce load on the engine.
The result is the biggest-selling 1.2-litre petrol model now costs just £30 per year to tax thanks to its CO2 emissions of 119g/km, down 5g/km.
The 1.4-litre diesel is now fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox, reducing CO2 emissions by over seven per cent, while the 1.4-litre petrol travels 4.3 miles further on every gallon of fuel, with a combined average of 53.7mpg. CO2 emissions drop accordingly to 129g/km.
Externally the i20 remains unchanged, while very mild interior changes include a change to blue instrument backlighting. Bluetooth connectivity is standard on all but Classic models, which start from £9,520.
