Mugen, the semi-official tuning partner of Honda, is now selling its performance parts through eight UK Honda dealers for the current Civic Type-R.

Mugen has been producing performance parts since 1973, when it was founded by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Soichiro Honda, the Japanese giant's founder. Mugen also produced Honda's Formula 1 engines from 1992 to 2000.

Despite the company's engine-tuning pedigree, none of the parts being officially imported to the UK will actually make your Civic Type-R any faster in a straight line. Forged aluminium wheels, performance brake pads, quick shift gearbox kits, uprated suspension and bodykits are the first parts to go on sale. More parts for a wider range of models will become available over the next 12 months.

"We are delighted to be teaming up with some knowledgeable and enthusiastic Honda dealers who will bring Mugen products to a wider audience," said Colin Whittamore, from Mugen Euro. "Through this programme we are looking forward to attracting new and existing customers to experience why MUGEN has been renowned for many years as a world leader in motorsport."

All parts fitted by Honda dealers are covered by a 12month/10,000 mile warranty. The official Honda Mugen dealers are:
