The Seat IBE concept has caused another electric shock at the Geneva Motor Show. The pretty two-and-a-bit-seater coupe is shorter and lower than a Seat Ibiza supermini but is also wider and much sportier. It features similarly angular headlight details to the IBZ concept shown at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
But, the big news is that this is Seat's first hint of a future electric car. The IBE packs a 102bhp electric motor, with lithium-ion batteries mounted in its stubby rear end. The instant torque of the electric motor sends it from 0-62mph in just 9.4 seconds and on to a top speed of just under 100mph.
The IBE is impressively light, especially for an electric car, at just 1,000kg and features 'car-to-x' communication, in anticipation of a future information sharing network between cars and road infrastructures.
Seat is committed to building a plug-in hybrid and all-electric model, so expect a toned-down version of the IBE to hit your local Seat dealer in the not-too-distant future.
