A special edition Land Rover Freelander 2 SD4 Sport model will go on sale from early 2011, costing from £33,945.

Only 500 of the enhanced Freelanders will be available in the UK, making them a future collector's favourite.

The exterior has a black grille and side vents, body styling pack and choice of white, black or red paintwork. There's also a rear spoiler, 19-inch chrome alloy wheels, tinted glass and front and rear parking sensors.

Inside there are two options - Ebony Windsor leather upholstery, or Ebony Napoli leather with a stripe on the seats. The dashboard is finished in piano black material.

Only available with a six-speed automatic gearbox, the 188bhp diesel engine accelerates the SD4 Sport to 60mph in 8.7 seconds. Interestingly, the engine can also run on 10 per cent biodiesel without any modification.
