Hyundai's best-selling model will be offered as a five-door hatchback, rivalling the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra and will be supplied with a five year warranty.

A handsome hatchback which cements Hyundai's position as a builder of cars which are both affordable and desirable, the i30's design and quality are such that buyers may start to wonder why they're shelling out thousands of pounds more for a Volkswagen. It really is that good.

The new i30 is bigger than the previous model and offers more carrying capacity, and Hyundai reckons it'll breeze to a full five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test programme. The interior looks and feels better quality than the old car too.

Three diesel and three petrol engines will be offered, and the 1.6-litre diesel fitted to the Blue Drive eco model will emit less than 100g/km of CO2, making it free to tax and exempt from the London Congestion Charge.

Expect the i30 to hit Hyundai dealers early next year.
