Ferrari has unveiled its first four-wheel drive sportscar. The practicality of the four-seater coupe also extends to a 450-litre boot, just 10 litres less than a BMW 3 Series saloon.

Power is provided by a new V12 6.2-litre engine with close to 660bhp, launching the Ferrari FF to 62mph from a standstill in just 3.7 seconds, helped by its four-wheel drive traction. Its top speed is a heady 208mph.

Gear changes are taken care of by Ferrari's F1 dual-clutch gearbox, which should be able to handle both razor sharp and smooth shifts.

Design has been undertaken by Ferrari's long-standing partner Pininfarina and is a radical departure from current models. Front occupants sit aft of the centre line of the car, behind a long bonnet and swept back windscreen.

The roof then stretches back to the rear of the car, and ends in a small tailgate flanked by Ferrari's trademark rear lights and quad tailpipes.

Geneva Motor Show will see the official debut of the FF at the start of March.
