A raft of updates await the Ford S-Max and Galaxy for 2010. Heading the list of changes is the all-new 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost SCTi engine. Ford promises it will offer better performance and fuel economy.

The 203bhp petrol engine powers the S-Max from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 137mph; the Galaxy manages 8.8 seconds and 135mph.

Despite the power boost CO2 emissions are cut to 189g/km - a 25 per cent reduction. Power and economy have also been improved on the existing range of diesel engines for the two cars.

Inside, both cars get a blind spot warning system for the first time on a Ford. Keyless entry and Ford's Easyfuel system (which prevents owners putting the wrong fuel in) are also added.

Both the S-Max and Galaxy receive subtle styling changes on the outside. The S-Max follows the trend for gloss black front noses and has a re-sculpted bonnet.

The most significant changes to the Galaxy are also at the front of the car with new fog lights and revised chrome bars.
