The all-new Ford Focus is one of the stars of the Paris Motor Show, stealing the limelight for the second show in succession.

Ford's mid-sized family car will comprise a five-door hatchback, estate and a performance model, badged ST, over the coming months.

The five-door hatchback will be the most popular model for British buyers, although a three-door version is tipped for launch later in 2011. The attractive estate model will offer a larger boot with a low lip to make loading luggage easy, and will also be available as the hot ST model.

A range of engines will be offered, including the fuel-efficient TDCi diesel engines which power the current Focus. Ford is also pushing its petrol Ecoboost engines which offer the performance of a larger engine with the size and efficiency of smaller unit. A pair of 1.6-litre engines producing 150 and 180bhp will be offered.

The Focus ST is one of Britain's best-loved hot hatches, with buyers craving its driving excitement and sharp looks. The all-new ST, which gets its first public airing at the Paris show, looks every inch the attractive hatch.

Critics have questioned the gaping front grille, but Ford are confident the look will be toned down once a numberplate is attached. Power will come from a turbocharged 2-litre engine delivering nearly 250bhp - far more than the current model.
