Ford is introducing reversing cameras into the supermini market with an optional £475 system for its best-selling Fiesta. This features a built in screen on the left side of the interior rear view mirror.
The Fiesta has consistently been the best-selling car in Britain since the start of last year, and the company claims that many buyers are down-sizing from bigger models.
It believes the reversing camera system is a 'big car' feature which will attract drivers of bigger-than-Fiesta models.
Currently three quarters of Fiesta buyers pay for options. Bluetooth with USB is the most popular.
The model is a big private buyer favourite and competes against cars like the Vauxhall Corsa, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.
