Ford has announced it will be cutting the list prices of models across its line-up. Its latest S-Max and Galaxy models are the first to benefit, having recently gone on sale priced around ten per cent cheaper than before. The Ford Mondeo has also had its pricing revised, and further models will follow.
The Ford Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy now have starting prices of £17,295, £20,645 and £22,945 respectively.
Ford has previously followed a model where its cars were advertised with a high list price, and it expected dealers to offer showroom discounts and customers to haggle down to the 'actual' price of the car.
But, this has given fleet buyers a raw deal, as list prices and CO2 emissions are used to calculate the Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax business customers pay.
The lower 'Blue Tag' list price - as Ford calls it - will give private buyers a clearer indication of a car's purchase cost, without needing to secure a discount, and reduce BIK payments for business customers.
