Good news - BMW has announced its fastest ever production 3 Series coupe and cabriolet in the shape of the new BMW 335is. Bad news - it's only available in America.
A source at BMW told Auto Trader that the North American version of the BMW 335is will basically be "like an M-Sport version", complete with a tweaked 3-litre twin-turbocharged engine.
The new unit develops 320bhp - up from 306bhp - while torque swells from 299lb/ft to 332lb/ft, with an 'overboost' function pushing that to 370lb/ft when needed.
The 0-62mph sprint now takes just five seconds flat - 5.1s for the double-clutch semi-automatic - and a limited top speed of 155mph.
The styling gets some additional tweaks too, in the shape of high-depth LED tail lights, kidney grille surrounds in high gloss black, wing mirror caps, M Sport front, side and rear skirts, an M Sport steering wheel, sports seats, M Sport door sills, gearshift knob and 335is badging on the dashboard.
The US-only 335is will cost around $50,000, which is around £30,000, and $59,000 for the drop-top.
There is a gram of comfort however, because last year we reported on a range-topping BMW we will be getting: the 335bhp BMW Z4 sDrive35is.
Like the 335is, the tweaked Z4 will get a 335bhp 3-litre straight six and 370lb/ft of pulling power, together with a revised bodykit and a new exhaust which, according to BMW, offers a "particularly deep rumble with the focus above all on the low frequency range".
