Citroen has announced the new C3 supermini, which will avoid the cost of car tax when it goes on sale early 2010. A HDi 90 powered version will emit just 99g/km CO2 – the first full production Citroen to emit less than 100g/km. This places it into tax band A which avoids the annual car tax charge.
Second-generation diesel C3s will emit as little as 90g/km of CO2 when they arrive in 2011, featuring 'stop and start' technology. Fuel consumption figures have yet to be announced, but Citroen claims the C3's economy will be "excellent."
Changes have been made to the C3's body, which has more sporty and curvy looks than the current C3. The new C3's windscreen has also been altered – the glass now flows up and above the heads of the front occupants.
Citroen calls this new style 'Visiodrive' – a phrase born from the new panoramic windscreen. It claims the windscreen will improve visibility, road safety, driving pleasure, ambience and spaciousness.
Inside the C3 features "enhanced sound insulation" and an integrated air freshener. It will also include USB, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, with the option of a built-in satnav. The C3 will be available to order from early 2010.
