DJ and car fanatic Chris Evans has put up one of his cherished Ferraris for sale. The 1959 250 GT LWB California Spider has been in Evans' possession since 2007 and he's decided someone else should enjoy it. After all, he's got a short wheelbase California too - and that cost him £5.6 million.

Under the bonnet is a 3-litre V12 engine which develops 240bhp - giving the California a top speed of 156mph.

That's the same top speed as a BMW 3-Series diesel, but with a car of this stature speed is near-on irrelevant - because look at it.

The Ferrari 250 California is quite simply one of the most beautifully constructed pieces of automotive engineering.

It's offered in the original Verde Pino Metallizzato with magnolia leather interior and the car features the widely preferred covered headlight arrangement. It is, as you might say, mint.

Besides its beauty, the Fezza is also famous for its part in 1980s teen flick Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In the hit movie, a young Matthew Broderick drives a 250 GT around the streets of Chicago with the Fezza meeting an untimely death. Fortunately it was a replica.

Around 50 long-wheelbase Spiders were built with Evans' model the 21st to roll of the Scaglietti production line in Modena.

HR Owen is inviting offers on the car - offers we imagine which are in the region of £2 million. It would make a perfect Christmas present wouldn't it?
