Remember how the world laughed when Volkswagen announced it would build the 1,000bhp Bugatti Veyron?

Well that power figure 'ain't a joke no more, because German tuner 9ff has unleashed its latest monster onto our planet: the Porsche 911-based 9ff GTurbo1000.

9ff has taken a 453bhp Porsche GT3 RS, easily one of the world's finest sportscars, and stuck on a twin-turbo conversion using "high-quality materials" including titanium connecting rods and extra-strong forged pistons.

This has allowed 9ff engineers to produce incredible power outputs starting from 750bhp through to the Bugatti Veyron-baiting 1,000bhp on the GTurbo1000.

The 9ff GTurbo1000's performance figures are equally other-worldly: 0-62mph takes just 2.9 seconds (Veyron: 2.5s), 0-124mph takes 8.2 seconds (Veyron: 7.3s) and 0-186mph takes just 16.5 seconds (Veyron: 18.2s).

9ff reckons the top speed is 243mph, which is still short of the Veyron's 253mph record-breaking speed, but impressive nonetheless.

The bodykit includes rear wings fitted with air intakes to aid cooling and air outlets in the front wings which help reduce pressure in the wheel wells at high speed.

You can also get new front and rear aprons and new side skirts, along with 19-inch alloy wheels and a new exhaust system.

Prices haven't been announced, but bear in mind a Porsche 911 GT3 RS costs around £105,000. And if you want a 9ff with 1,000bhp and have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it…
