Two new special editions have been announced for the BMW 3-Series saloon and estate, with 320d, 320i, 318d and 318i engines. The Exclusive Edition and Sport Plus Edition models include an array of equipment for a £595 premium over the standard SE or M Sport models.

Exterior updates including Chromeline exterior trim, chrome slatted front grille, matt silver front bumper, aluminium roof rails and metallic paint. Inside, Exclusive Edition is fitted with Dakota leather upholstery, Anthracite Bamboo interior trim, 'Edition' door sill badging, a sports leather steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and 17-inch lightweight star-spoke alloy wheels, together costing £3,005.

Sport Plus Edition comes with Black Dakota leather upholstery with contrasting Royal Blue stitching, floor mats with Royal Blue piping and a choice of Le Mans Blue, Black Sapphire or Alpine White metallic paint. Bluetooth connectivity, sun protection glass and 18-inch lightweight M Star-spoke alloys complete the look, usually costing £2,325.

BMW has also announced its range-topping X1 xDrive23d is now available with a six-speed manual gearbox, which helps its emissions to fall from 167g/km to 158g/km of CO2. Power output remains at 202bhp and 0-62mph stays at 7.3seconds.

From September 2010, the BMW Z4 gets a new Design Pure Impulse equipment package. This includes black Alcantara/Nappa leather sports seats with yellow highlights, black Alcantara dash with a yellow contrast stitching and unique interior trim strips in a black piano high-gloss finish. The package costs from £540 to £2,200, depending on the model chosen.
