Geneva Motor Show, March 2010 - remember the place and date because something special may be about to happen. American tuning specialist Hennessey Performance Engineering plans to unveil its Venom GT Concept Car.

And you can forget about the Bugatti Veyron, SSC Ultimate Aero TT and Koenigsegg CCXR because this mad motor could be about to re-write the record books.

Let's start with the numbers: The Venom GT will be using a tuned Corvette ZR1 V8 engine which will develop up to 1,200bhp - 200bhp more than the fabled Veyron.

With this power spinning the rear wheels of the 1,100kg hypercar, it's been estimated the Venom GT will be able to accelerate from:
• 0-60mph in 2.4 seconds
• 0-100mph in 5.3 seconds
• 0-150mph in 8.9 seconds
• 0-200mph in 14.3 seconds

Hennessey predicts the Venom GT will v-max at 272mph. On a very long, wide and clear runway we assume.

The 350mm carbon ceramic disc brakes and a should allow the Venom to accelerate from 0-200mph and back to 0mph in 20 seconds.

Hennessey is taking a Lotus Exige S chassis, heavily modifying it and giving it nearly six times the power of the Hethel favourite.

The Venom GT will set back Brit buyers somewhere in the region of £450,000 for a right-hand drive model with the car maker claiming to have taken three global orders already.
