
Why should I Register?
By registering you will be able to save and access your saved vehicles and saved searches from your mobile, tablet and PC. You will benefit from seamless access to your saved items from anywhere at any time.
And, by having your favourite cars, bikes and searches saved in your Auto Trader account, if your browser cookies are ever cleared, you won’t lose the items you have saved.

I already have an Auto Trader account – what should I do?
If you have already registered simply sign in using your existing login details and you will have access to your Garage.

I already have saved searches and saved vehicles – will I be able to keep them?
When you sign in to your Auto Trader account for the first time you can choose whether you would like to keep any existing saved items that you have saved on your mobile. Just tick the box on the sign in page to keep your existing saved vehicles and searches after you have signed in.

My saved dealers and notes have gone – where are they?
To enrich the overall experience of Auto Trader we have decided to focus on what’s really important. This means we have left out certain features that were less popular with our users; most notably these are the ability to write notes and save dealers.

How do I sign out?
Signing out is easy, simply click on the sign out button at the top right of the screen. Note that the sign out button will only be visible if you are signed in.

I would prefer not to register. Can I still use Auto Trader?
If you prefer not to register with Auto Trader you can carry on using our mobile site to search for cars or bikes. However, you will need to register to save vehicles or searches to your Garage.

How do I edit personal details?
To edit your details, such as changing your password, and adding your name or address, you need to sign in to your account from our desktop website. Go to Autotrader.co.uk on your PC or laptop and click ‘My Account’.

I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you forget your password, you will need to visit our password retrieval page on the desktop website. Go to Autotrader.co.uk on your PC or laptop, click on ‘Sign in’ and select ‘Forgotten your password’. Enter your email address and we will send you an email with steps to recover your password.

What is a saved search?
Saving a search will allow you to easily run commonly used search criteria from the search form again and again. Instead of manually entering the keywords and conditions to the search form every time, you can save the set of search selections by giving it a special name that you later reference.

How do I save a search?
To save a search for later use, first run a search selecting the desired parameters. When you get the search results, click 'Save search', give it a name and click 'Save'.
Note that you must be signed in to your Auto Trader account to save searches.

How do I access my saved searches?
The 'Garage' is your personal area where your saved vehicles and searches are stored. To get there, simply click the 'Garage' icon at the top of any page. Note, you must be signed in to access the Garage.

How do I run a previously-saved search?
Your most recently saved searches are available above the search form for quick access. You can also access and run your saved searches by clicking the 'Garage' icon at the top of any page.

How do I delete a saved search?
To delete a saved search, go to the saved searches area in the Garage, locate the saved search you wish to delete and click the delete icon ('X').

What is a saved vehicle?
Saving a vehicle will allow you to quickly access that particular vehicle again later. If you are interested in purchasing a specific car or bike and want to shortlist it and check it out in more detail later, or compare it with other vehicles you have saved previously you can save it to your Garage and access it anytime you want.

How do I save a vehicle?
To save a vehicle to your Garage, click the 'Save car' or 'Save bike' icon on the page which displays the details of the vehicle.

How do I access my saved vehicles?
The 'Garage' is your personal area where all your saved vehicles and searches are stored. To get there, simply click the 'Garage' icon at the top of any page.

How do I delete a saved vehicle?
To remove a car or bike, access your saved vehicles area in the Garage, locate the item and click the delete icon ('X').

I have been signed out of my account.
You may have been signed out of your account if your browser has deleted your cookies. This won’t happen often but can occur if for example you reset your device, or for whatever reason, manually delete your cookies. If you have been signed out just click the ‘sign in’ button and enter your login details to sign in.

How do I call the seller?
When you are viewing the details for a particular car or bike, you can call the seller directly by clicking on the seller's phone number displayed at the top and middle of the page.

Message: Unexpected System Error.
If you performed a search on any search page and received a page back displaying the message 'Unexpected System Error', it means that something happened that interrupted your search request. It is most likely something outside our control and we are unable to specifically identify the cause. Wait a short while then try your search again. If it continues to occur, please contact your phone provider for assistance.

Message: That mobile number is no longer accepting messages.
If you have tried to send an ad to a friend and received this message, it simply means that person does not want to receive our ads by sms any more.

Message: This service is limited to five messages per day.
To prevent abuse of our service, we limit the number of ads you can send to a friend to five-per-day. You will be able to send more tomorrow.
If you want to send an ad to yourself, you can do this more effectively using the 'Saved Vehicles' feature.

Message: Service is currently unavailable.
If you are seeing this message, it means that the 'send-to-a-friend' feature is temporarily unavailable. Try again in a little while.
